THE AUSTRALIAN GALES.

THE WRECKED COASTERS

SEVERE WEATHER COMING

Sydney, this day. The exceedingly severe weather which has prevailed on the Eastern Australian Coast for the last few days now appears to be passing in the direction of New Zealand. The second attempt of the pilot boat to rescue the crew of the wrecked schooner Venus at Bellinger Heads proved successful, all hands being saved. Brisbane, this day. The easterly gale raged here with unprecedented violence, and swept the city, doing great damage. The sea washed entirely over the esplanade at Sandgate, flooding the vicinity a foot deep. Very heavy rain also fell.
