BOOTMAKERS' STRIKE.
At a meeting of the Operative Bootmakers Union held last evening the resignation of Mr C. B. King, president of the Union, was received, but not accepted, and it was ordered to be laid on the table. About 4.30 yesterday afternoon a large number of people congregated in the vicinity of the Norbhern Boob Company's premises, Lower Alberfrstreeb;' under the impression that ■ the Unionists were going to "see home" Mr C. B. King, who had accepted employment there. The police had also had the " straight tip and .some half dozen members of the force were 'on the spot. The Unionists however were "conspicuous only by their absence," and there was no demonstration whatever; Some display or 'feeling had been expected by , fch e j??™*? 1 " and Mr King left for home about 4 p.m.,Bo;.that he would have been lorind Vmisain_;'' in any case: ; v - -
