LICENSING ELECTION.
Considerable interest is boing taken in the approaching election of Licensing Committees in the city and suburbs. Elsewhere in this issue will be found announcements made by the moderate party, together with a statement by Mr J. Endean, explaining that his signature was obtaino.i to vote for and onsure the return of a moderate ticket, from which the name of Mr Shera was omitted, under a misapprehension. Messrs Morrison, A. J. Tapper, and 11. Meyer have also withdrawn thoir names on the ground of alleged misrepresentation.
On Tuesday evening; next a meeting of ratepayers will be held to hear addresses from prohibition candidates upon the presenb contosb.
Mr Thos. Seaman announces tho annual meetings of Licensing Committees during the first week in June, viz., Takapuna, ■Tamaki West, Epsom, Avondalo, Waikomiti,
Tho election of a Licensing Committee for Warkworth, Mahurangi, resulted as follows : J. M. Kins, 74 ; Charles Phillips, 67; H. W. Pulham, 72; William Sneek, 70 ; John Taylor, 76 ; John Grimmor, 31 ; Walter Grimmer, 2tS ; Josiah Hudson, 29 ; Robert Phillips, 34. The first five were therefore declared elected.
