Public . ¥N the matter of a Bill intituled an Act JL to authoriee " The Mew Zealand laeotrical Syndicate (Limited)," to break up or cross over Btreets, roads, rivers, and bridges, and to place mams, service linen and diebributiog mama c thex above or below ground, and to lay down and place pipes, conduits and service pipes, and to erect pillars, arches or poles, ana to make, construct and do other works and things for supplying the city of Auckland and (suburbs with electrical energy: Notice is hereby uiven that application is intended to be made at the next session of the General Assembly of i\ew Zealand for leave to bring in a Bill to lho New Zealand Electrical Syndicate (Ltd.) n hereinafter referred to as " the Company to place mains, service lines and distributing mains either above or below ground, and to lay down and place pipes, conduits, and service pipes, and to erect pillars, a-che« or poles, and to break up or cross over streets, rivers, and bridges, and to make'and construct other works tor supplying the City of Auckland and suburbs with-electrical energy-, and for other purposes relating thereto, and to the oojects lor which the said Company has been esof the Bill will be deposited at the offce of the Examiner of Standing Orders, on or before the commencement of the and maynlsobehaduponapplieation to Messrs Bell, Gully, and Izard, solicitors, Wellington, Agents for the Bill, or from the undersigned. . It is intended to apply for the following powers on behalf of the Company, that is to say : The Company under the superintendence of the persons having the control thereof respectively may open and break up or croaa over the sod and pavement of the several streets, roads, rivers aud bridges within the limits ot this Act and may open and break up or cross over any sewers, drains or tunnels within or under such streets rivers and bridges and lay down and placo within, or over the same limit,-, pipes, conduits, and service pipes, and main service lines, and distributing mains, and make, construct, and do other works and things, and from time to time repair, alter, or remove the same, and for the purposes aforesaid may remove and use all earth and materials in and under such streets, rivers, and bridges, and may in or on such streets and bridges erect any pillar*, arches or poles, lamps and other works, and do all other acts and things which the Company shall from time to time deem necessary for supplying electrical energy within the limits hereinafter mentioned, doing as little damage as may be in the execution of the powers by this Act granted and making compensation for any damage which may be done in the execution of such powers. That the Company may from time to time enter into any contract with any person ior lighting by means of electricity or supplying wish electrical energy any public or private buildings, or for providing any person with pipes, service, mains, transformers, accumulators, conductors, burners, meters, and lamps, and for the repair thereof, and may also from time to time enter into any contract with the Mayor and Corporation of AuckkT'd or the City Council thereof or other persons or body corporate having the control of any oi tiie streets, roads, rivers, or bridges within the limits aloresaid for lighting the same or any of them by means ol electricity or for supplying them with electrical energy, and for providing such Mayor and Corporation, City Council, persons or body corporate with lamps, lamp-posts, burners, andpipes, mains, translormers,accumulators or conductors for such purpose and for the repairs thereof in such manner and upon such tenia as shall bo agreed upon between the Company and the caid Mayor and Corporation, City Council, or other persons or body corporate, and the maximum charge to be made for the actual amount of energy supplied to any consumer, or for the electrical quantity contained in any such supply, shall be at."or according to the rates apecilied in this Act or in the schedules hereto. That the Company may let for hire any meter for ascertaining the quantity of electrical current or electrical energy consumed, absorbed, or supplied, and also any electrical fittings, including transformers Jpr altering tension and accumulators for storing the energy, for such remuneration in money as shall be agreed upon between the Company and any person to whom the same may be so let, and such remuneration shall be recoverable in the same manner as the rents or sums due to the Company for electrical energy supplied, and such meters and fittings shall not bo subject to distress ior rent of the premises where the same may be used, nor to be taken in execution under any process or proceeding of a Court of Law or Equity, or in bankruptcy against tne person in whose possession the same may be. That the Clerk, Engineer, or other officer duly appointed for the purpose by the Compauy may at all reasonable times enter any building or place supplied by the Company with electrical energy, in order to inspect the meters, fittings, transformers, accumulators, and other instruments or things, and for regulating the supply thereof, and for the purpose of ascertaining the quantity of current or energy consumed, absorbed or supplied, and if any person hinder such officer as aforesuid from entering and making such inspection as aforesaid at any reasonable time, ho shall for every such oilence be liable to forfeit a sum not exceeding five pounds. That if any person supplied with electrical current or energy neglect; to pay the rent duo for the same to the Company the Company may stop such current or energy from entering the premises of such person by switching the same off'or by such means ps the Company shall think tic, and may recover the rent due from such person together with the expense of switching oil the current or energy and the costs of recovering the rent by action in any court of law of competent jurisdiction. That in all cases in which the Company are authorised to switch oft:'and take away the supply of elecrrical current or energy, from auy house, building or premises under the provisions of this Act, the Company, their Agents or workmen after giving forty-eight hours previous notice in writing to the occupier, or if uo occupier, then after leaving such notice on any portion of the premises may enter into i such house, building, or premises between the hours of nine in the loreiroon and four in the afternoon, and remove and carry away any main switch, transformer, accumulator, meter, iittinga or other things, being the property of the Company. The Company may make bye-laws or regulations provided the same shall no*t be repugnant to this Act or to the Electric Lines Act, 1884, or to the Municipal Corporations Act, 1886, oi- to any Statutory Amendment thereof, or to any Road Board or County Act of the General Assembly, or to any bye-law or regulation which may now or hereafter be made thereunder, respectively, and may impose any penalty not exceeding the sum of £5 for the breach of any bye-law or regulation of the Company. The limits within which such works as aforesaid are intended to be made and maintained extend to and include the City of Auckland, the Borough of Parnell, the Borough of Newmarket, the Borough of Devonport, and all lands lying within a radius of five miles from the Auokland City Market. Such works as aforesaid are intended to be made and maintained wholly in the counties of Waifcemata, Eden, and Manukau, and through the City of Auckland, the Boroughs of Parnell, Newmarkeb and Devonport, and the whole or portions of tha
