THE BOOTMAKERS' STRIKE.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—-With reference to the dishonourable attack made upon Mr Hodgson by your correspondents signing themselves " Fair Play" and "Strike Committee," in your issue of last evening, we, as members of the Auckland Boot Manufacturers' Association, beg to inform you and tha public generally that the allusions made to the *'_bok at North Shore," "and giving.him a.blow from which he never would recover " are simply "diabolical," and could only emanate from men, or so-called men, who feel theUiselves beaten* and whd.'rnstead of accepting defeat in an way, adopt this method of taunting a man (who is thoroughly respected by all who know him) With a mental affliction, brought on by overwork and anxiety in furthering the interests of his Company and their employees. And as we are assured of our ability to carry on our respective businesses without the assistance of "Fair Play," "Strike Committee," or any such "honourable men," we now decline all further correspondence, either public or private, as we have decided upon our course.—We are, etc., J, Trenwith, ■[■■ - The Northern Boot Company, ■ ') Thomas Bucjtland, , Parker, Green & Co., E. Bridgens, i ■'• HostfiNs & Co., : :; • Henry .Davy, A. Walker, Richard Walton, •' A. Rhodes, . G. Foster, , Members 'of Auckland Boot Manufacturers 1 Association. •
