THE ZAMBESI DISPUTE.
OUTRAGE ON THE WIL LOUGHBY PIONEERS.
Capetown, April 21. A force of five thousand armed men will convoy the Boers' expedition to Mashonaland and Manicaland.
Further particulars regarding 'the outrage on the pioneers of the Willoughby expedition to Mashonaland have now come to hand,
The Willoughby pioneers offered to pay duty on their goods, and waited for two days, without receiving any reply from the Portuguese authorities, and then proceeded up the river to Pungue.
The Portuguese thereupon opened fire upon the steamers Agnes and Shark, and seized them together with lighters laden with provisions for the garrison at Fort Salisbury.
The Portuguese claim that the attack was justified by an alleged breach of fiscal rules, and assert that they will prevent entrance to Pungue until Massekese has been evacuated.
