FIRE IN FREEMAN'S BAY.
The fire mentioned in yesterday's issue as burning in Freeman's Bay when we went to press, destroyed a number of old sheds between Dock-sbreeb and Custom-street West, where ib junctions with Patteson - street. The fire commenced in an old stable belonging to Mr Samuel Trewen, who resides in England. The building was used by Mr Alexander Kennedy, saddler, Albert-street, for the purpose of storing etraw. Mr William Williamson, an employee of Mr Tyler's, first noticed the fire and gave the alarm. The Fire Brigade and Salvage Corps were soon in attendance and succeeded in preventing the flames spreading to cottapes in Dock-street. The fire destroyed the stable in which it originated, also another stable owned by Mr George Graham, which was insured in the Commerical Union for £50. It was used by Mr John Reardon, who estimated his loss at £8 in the shape of harness. Two dilapidated old cottages which had been unoccupied for some time past were also destroyed. The sparks from the fire ignited the roofs of buildings in Victoria-street, but the Fire Brigade soon pub an end to danger. Mr Kennedy estimates his lose at about £b.
