Thero was a special sitting of the Supreme Court in the Judge's Chambers this morning at 9.45 o'clock, in H. I. Kavanagh v. H. P. Kavanagh, J. Rogan, and E. Hand, Catherine Hand and John Hand. The application was under Supreme Court Rule 431, asking the Judge to approve the Registrar's reporb in a partition suit. Mr W. Dignan appsared for tho plaintiff, and Dr. Laishley for the defendants. The application was made by Mr Dignan for the plaintiff. Dr. Laishley, for the defendants, consented. The Judge thereupon signed and thereby adopted the report, and will give judgment in accordance with it after the expiration, of one month, if meantime no application under Rule 433 be made to discharge or vary it. Aucklanders again have good cause to growl at the weather. A strong nor - westerly gale set in early this morning, accompanied by heavy rain showers, and an exceedingly heavy rain-squall passed over the harbour just about noon to-day. Vessels arriving from the coast reporb very bad weather outside. The Grafton Road Mutual Improvement Society held their opening meeting lasb night which was well attended. The rules were revised and officers elected for the ensuing session, A social evening that wa9 to be given this evening by the Pitt-street Wesleyan Church to the sailors and marines who are Wesleyans, also members of temperance societies on board the warships in the harbour, h»3 been postponed until, next Monday ?Tea«K-
