LOST ON MOUNT EGMONT.

A s.VD fatality is believed to have occurred at Mount Sginont between Thursday and Saturday last. A young man named William Southwood lolt here on horseback to make the ascent, sind nob having; returned on Friday, a party wont to look for him on Friday night After riaving a terribly rough time they found his horse, overcoat and pocket-book. Yesterday a search party of twenty-nine with Constable Levy went up, but only found hi.s pan and leggings. Just below tho snow lino a heavy snow storm compelled them to return to the camping ground. Three of the party stayed there all night, intending to resume the starch to-day if the weather permits. South.iood was travelling agent of the Government Life Insurance. There is very little hopo of him being found alive.
