Shortly before one o'clock to-day Constable Ward was on duty in Victoria-street when he noticed a young man running rapidly down the street. Another was chasing him and calling out " Stop him !" Ward at once attempted tc do so, and then the fun commenced. The man proved to be a tough customer tc handle, and a regular rough and tumble ensued, until Constable O'Brien arrived, who also got knocked about before the man was secured. Ab present his name has not transpired. Ib appears that the man had used obscene language in the hearing of some civilians who tried to secure him when he ran away. Ab this juncture Constable Ward stopped him and before the struggle ended Serjeant Emerson and one or two ether constables arrived and rendered assistance.
