CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the above body was held yesterday afternoon. Present : Meesra C. Atkin (Chairman), Mays, Dignan, Gooseman, Bollard, Udyi Lennox, and Kidd. Hospital.—The Medical Superintendent reported thab ab present there were 71 men and 26 women in the Hospital. She was stated to be a widow ■62 years of age, and had resided in the colony over 30 years. This woman was Sound by Mr Brakenrig lying oub amongst the trees in Chancery Lane. He drew the attention of the police to bhe matter, and they reported to the Board. She is a widow 50 years o£ age, wibh a son on the gumnelda and a daughter, aged 16, hired out from the Industrial School. Mr Strathern reported that the woman's past record was a lad one. Mr Bollard said be understood the Board were giving _ aid fo prostitutes, ' and he thought it a 'monstrous thing. The Chairman said thab he had never allowed a prostitute to "draw rations knowingly.
