THE ESSEX.

Early this morning the well-known American wooden barque Essex, 630 tons, Captain A. L. Schaube, arrived in port from New York via Dunedin, on another visit to Auckland. She brings part cargo of general American merchandise from New York, including some oil, and about 1,300 sacks of oats from Dunedin. The Essex, which comes in as usual to Messrs Arnold, Cheney and Co., left New York.on September 19th, and arrived at Port Chalmers on January 3rd, after an uneventful passage. She left Dunedin on January 20th again, and had light northerly and N.E. Windthroughout tbe trip up tbe coast.

THE S.S. ROTOKINO. On her first visit to the port of Auckland the Union Steamship Company s new cargosteamer Rotokino arrived in the harbour JoTy rather unexpectedly. She is from Tiii with a full cargo of bananas, raw suear, and sundries, besides some cargo from Melbourne. Mudie , second engineer, Mr J. Maccall; third engineer,

Mr A. A. Grant; chief steward, Mr J. Ramsay. Mr J. W. Masscy, late of the Arawata and other steamers, is purser, and to him we are indebted for Fiji files and other favours. The Rotokino went across from Melbourne to Fiji, and then left Suva at i 0 a.m. on the kind inst., arriving after a fine passage.
