BOARD OF EDUCATION.
« Tin-; ordinary meeting of the Board of Education was held this afternoon. Present Messrs Udy (Chairman), Carr, Lennox, Cooper, Upton, Luke, and Monk. Accounts-—The balances at date were stated bo be : Education fund credit, £11,568 17s 8d ; building fund credit, £2,395 14- 2d ; Girls' High School debit, £203 7s lOd.
Chairman's Report.-—The Chairman's report stated that tenders had been invited for improvements to bhe beacher' dwelling, Hamilton East, and thab application had been made to the Commissioner of Crown Lands for a grant of land to be conveyed to tho Devonport Beard under the authority of the Borough of Devonport Empowering- and Endowment Acb. The Te Archa committee have been informed that a substitute for a pupil teacher cannot be ee_t ab so short notice as a fortnight. Resignations have been received "from Miss M. E. M. Tristam, teacher, Ohinevveri School ; Miss A. M. Bottrill, assistant, Napier-street school. Other arrangements have been made as follows:—Miss M. McGee, pupil teacher, to West Mauku ; Miss M. Cranch, from Nelson-street to Beresford-street, iv temporary absence of pupil teacher. Scholarship Claim.—Tho Chairman ot the Tamahere Committee wrote as follows : —The Commibtee of the Tamahere District School hereby claim a junior scholarship under Class D, on behalf of Maud Marion Crawford, she standing firsb in the list of successful candidates in schools under 100 average, in accordance with regulation No. 52 of tho Aucklaud Education Boad.—After discussion, the claim was refused, as being contrary to the regulations. I-ARAMC— An application for establishment of a full time school was allowed to stand over pending further information being obtained.
