TO-MORROW'S EVENTS.
The first event to-morrow will start at half-past one o'clock, the tirßt race beinothe heats of the 120yd_ handicap. There are nine championship events, including the 25 mile bicycle race, besides four handicap races, set down for decision. The following aro my tips. Of course, not hay. ing the first day's running to _ro by, ib is nob a very easy bask bo pick bhe winners.
120 Yards Handicap,
The final of this evenb should be very close, wibh Chatfield .. ._ 1 Hesketh ._ 2 Mowbray 3 1 Mile Walk Championship promises to be a great race. My fancy is : — G. Peace (Auckland) 1 J. Cocks (Christchurch) '... 2 G. Bailey (Sydney) . 100 Yards Championship. Barring accidents, this is a moral for W. T. Macpherson (Sydney) ... 1 The race for second place should be close between A. E. Sefton (Sydney), J. M. King (Wellington), an B. Owen and M. H. Laird (Auckland). I like bhe chances of the two local men best. 1,000 Yards Handicap may be won by P. Lynch, with Nixon 2nd, and Atkins 3rd. Clarkson, of Wellington, may prove a boil-over. 1 Mile Bicycle Championship. Wilmob (Christchurch) 1 Bteadman (Dunedin) .... .... 2 Howard (Auckland) ... ... a 3 Mile Run. E. E. Corner _, 1 R. J-. White .„ .„ _ 2 Wood ... __. 3 300 Yards Handicap. C. Madigan 1 W. Cruickshank... ._. ... 2 D. F. Lundon .„ .„ ._ 3 3 Mile Bicycle Handicap. Wilmot „. I Short ... 2 Reynolds ... .- ... .„ 3 Quarter-mile Hurdles. I expect to see a great battle between B. Owen and H. W. Batger for this event, and I incline to Owen to geb home first. Quarter-mile Rust. This'promises to be one of the principal
events of the meeting, and if Hutchison was well I would prefer hi 3 chance before Macpherson's, but a« he is very weak and cannot finish with his usual dash, my choice is W. T. MacDherson (Sydney) ... 1 J. M. King"( Wellington) ... 2 J. C. Hutchison (Auckland) ... 3 TwESTY-FIVE-MILE BICYCLE CHAMPIONSHIP. This should be a greab race, it being 100 times around the track. Of course the Southerners are favourites, but they will have to ride from the start to the finish, and bhen, I think, the positions will be :— A. G. Buchanan (Auckland) ... 1 Wilmob (Christchurch) ... 2 Steadman (Dunedin) 3 While the twenty-five-mile bicycle race is proceeding the pole jump and putting the weight competitions will take place. J. E. Hume, Wellington, should win the pole jump, while in putting the weight I expecb to see T. B. O'Connor (Auckland), although suffering from a bad wrist, win easily, with M. McLean second and F. D. Macrae third.
