FERRY STEAMER ACCIDENT.

A sad nccident occurred yesterday to Mr Cannel, tho engineer of one of the Devonport ferry-boats. Whilst cleaning some parts of the machinery, his right hand got jammed between the works, with the result ttiat the finger? and also the back and front of the hand became completely crushed. Cannel was taken to Dr. Wilkins' consulting rooms, and the doctor stopped the hemorrhage ani brought the lacerated parts ton-ether by eight stitches. If the hand ie ke"pfc quiet from movement, Dr. Wilkins thinks the patients will have good use of it again.
