POLICE COURT.-THIS DAY
(Before Dr. J. Giles, R.M.)
Drunkenness. —Two first offenders were each fined ss, or 24 hours in default, Mary Ann Baker, being a second offender, was fined 10a, or 48 hours.
Alleged Stealing From the Person.— Ellen Geary, alias O'Brien, was charged with having on the 27bh of January stolen £5 from the person of Charles Loranz. Mr C. E. Madden appeared for the accused and asked for a remand and that bail might be allowed. The Bench remanded the accused until Saturday next, allowing bail, defendant in £40 and two sureties of £20 each.
Destitute Persons Act.—Robert Hill was charged with having failed to comply with an order of the Court that he should contribute towards the support of his family.—Dr. Giles further adjourned this case until the 14th of February.—Henry Arthur McGuiness, charged with failing to support his mother, was ordered to be imprisoned for one month in Lyttelton Gaol.
