OPERA MANAGER DEAD.

Dunedin, this day. Melbourne papers record the death of Carey, one of the organisers of the original Pirates of Penzance Company in this colony. He was admitted to the Melbourne Hospital on bhe 28bh, and died half an hour afberwards in a sbabe of collapse.
The genial commander of the Manapouri, Captain Logan, will give an address at tho V.M.C.A. evangelistic service at 7.30 this evening.
Shoe-dealer (to young widow who is hauling over a pile of ladies' slippers): " Are you looking for No, 2, ma'am 1 Young widow (blushing): " Yes, sir, Are yo« a married man V
