A REMARKABLE ACCIDENT,

one o'clock to-day a rather alarming accident occurred in Hopetoun-etreet, near the Ponsonby Reservoir. Mr Brown, who resides in the street, was about to take his children out in a buggy. Hβ had just placed one of them in the vehicle, and was about putting another in when the horse teok fright and bolted down the street, on the Side of which is a steep enbankment. Xheborse and buggy went over the bank and Iβ the bottom of the gully. When the buggy went over the bank, the little girl ff ho was the only occupant of the buggy V aa thrown out, and severely hurc 0D the arm, face and head. The horse when it got fo the bottom of the gully recovered its footing, and resuming its mad career, tore up the gully towards Ponsonby Road. It was caught at the top i the gully, and strange to say, neither ?orso nor buggy was damaged.
