At Forbury thia morning Occident did a very slow mile canter, running as though he was sore. St. Malo was sent a halfspeed spin over a milo, going freely. Wolverine would'nob try, and though he beat Wayland over the Otago Cup course, the spectators were not impressed. Freedom only did an easy canter, and Prime Warden did similar work. Milord worked before the touts were present, "and among others that shaped best were Ahua, Liquidation, and Mariner. Dispute did the besb mile of the morning. Occident ricked himself on Saturday, which hae greatly militated against his Cup chance, yet the stable were willing last night to take fives to one about him, ,but could not be accommodated. At a sale of racehorses held after the Melbourne Cup meeting a number of wellknown performers were pub up to auction. The Auckland-bred Teksum brougkt 1,225 guineas, Mr D. Affeck being the buyer, and the three-year-old colt King William (by Nordenfeldt — Pulchra) brought 1,200 guineas, Mr Wilson (of St. Albans) eecuring him at that price. Leopold was sold for 400 guineas to Mr M. Loughlin, and the sensational gelding Titan found a purchaser in the Hon. Donald Wallace at 650 guineas. Prince Consort was purchased by Mr Crozier for 520 guineas, and Yarran, the Maribyrnone: Plate winner, was knocked down to Mr S. G. Cook for 520 guineas.
