MELBOURNE CUP DAY.
DtJßiwo to-day one of the chief topics of discussion in town has been the Melbourne Cup. and perhaps in no previous year* has bo much interest been taken in the great racing event. The result is expected to reach Auckland about six o'clock, and a Stab extra will be issued immediately on receipt of the cablegram.
