TYPOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY.
The Board of Mnnngomont of the Auckland Typographical Society met on Saturday evening and made arrangements with a view to having tha trade woll represented at the approaching Eight Hours' Demonstration. It was resolved to take advantage of the kind offers made by two leading firms to give the use of a printing press and machine, and instructions were given to secure trollies to place them on. On one of these machines it is intended to print a special poem written by Mr W. R. Wills, and on the other a brie? history of the progress of the newspaper and printing business in Auckland, from the earliest dnys up to the present; these will be struck off en route and distributed. The " printer's devil" will be introduced in an original " get-up," and the trollies will be decorated with various devices and decorations illustrative of different branches of the trade.
The bookbinders also propose to make a display in their department, and on the whole the display should be araongab the best, although there is a great deal ot friendly rivalry between the various trades in the matter of display.
