COLONIAL INSURANCE COMPANY.
(To the Editor.)
Sib,—The suggestion made by Mr Mason in your last night's iseue ie a ridiculous one. To hamper the" proxy with a condition ie to raider it useless. Nine oub of ten at least of the shareholders v/ill accept the recommendation of directors. With bad times still ahead the prospect of insurance shareholders is not a cheerful one. I for one am pleased with the prospect of getting 103 for that which a very few months ago would only fetch half the amount. The Commercial Union have the pluck to buy us out, and I don't begrudge them a business which, with a broader back than ours, they are much better able to carry on. Although the purchase is aa good as complete, shareholders should send in their proxies and so make assurance doubly sure.—l am, etc., Geo. Pilkington.
