THE NATIVE DIFFICULTY.
TE MAHUKI BEFORE THE COURT,
Tb Mahpki and 21 other natives were brought before Mr C. La Roche, Visiting Justice at Mounb Eden Gaol, this morning. In order to save trouble of transit the Court was held in the Chapel
Inspector Broham represented the police, Mr Haultain acted as clerk of the Court, and Mr James Mackay acted aa interpreter. Mr Hudson Williamson appeared on behalf of the Crown and obtained a further remand for one week. Tbe charge of forcible entry has been withdrawn, and in its place was substituted the charge that the prisoners did disturb the public peace, and did then . unlawfully, riotously, and. tumultously make a noise and riob to the great terror of Her Majesty's eubjecte. They were also charged with havings assaulted John Ellis and Harry John Alright St. Clair.
