We .have news by telegraph that' t_uk Taranaki representative football team met ; a Hawke's Bay Maori team yesterday, and ; defeated them by 11 points to nil.. Gooa obtained 2 tries, C. Bayly 1, and A.\ > Bayly potted 2 goals. The game, despite' the score, was close, and extremely exciting. Rain fell during the match. The' Taranaki men have been coached by Hoffer- ' nan, of Auckland, and have improved * greatly since the Auckland match. They *■: play Hawke's Bay on Wednesday, and Wairarapa on Saturday. . The Maori team beaten by Taranaki it.," considered one of the strongest combinations in the colony. Ib has defeated the Bay Pakehas in several matches, and includes Warbrick,- Taiaroa, Wi. Hape, Duncan, Friday, and a lot of fine forwards,, bo that the Taranaki victory is - a very, creditable one.
