ACTION BY THE GOVERNMENT.

The Hon. Mr Hislop's motion for a comparison of Mr Hutchison's charges as submitted byhim to the Premier with theoriginal Hansard prooi was the first step towards an intended action by the Government against Mr Hutchison. It is now almost certain proceedings will be instituted shortly by way of civil prosecution.

THE DUMMYISM INQUIRY,

The Waste Lands Committee met thi ß morning for the further discussion of th c subject of dummy ism. It was decided to summon fresh witnesses from all parbs of the colony where dummyiam has been practised with a view of obtaining sufficient evidenca for the immediate prosecution of the persons who have made a false declaration under the Act.
