ORDER OF PROHIBITION.
'• Her Britannic Majesty's High Commission, Western Pacific, Order of Prohibition by the High Commissioner. " Whereas it has been shown by evidence on oath to my satisfaction, that Shirley Waldemar Baker, of Nukualofa, Tonga, a British subject, is dangerous to the peace and good order of the Western Pacific—Now, therefore, I do hereby prohibit the said Shirley Waldemarßaker from being in the Western Pacific Islands within the following limits, that is to say, the islands comprised within the one hundred and aevenby-bhird and one hundied and seventy-, seventh degrees of west longitude, and the fifteenth and twenty-third degrees of south latitude, and the waters within three miles of the said islands, during two years from the seventeenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety.
Given at Nukualofa, Tonga, under my hand and official seal, this 17th day of July, 1890. (Signed) $ohn B. Thubston. (Seal.) LEAVING TONGA. Mr Baiter, in concluding the interview, said :—" I wae compelled fco leave a large quantity of my property behind, though the King's wishes were with us. Hβ was most favourable to us, bub was virtually powerless , in the face of events. By Sir John Thurston's orders a sentry prevented me from entering the palace, and I was not allowed to enter my offices. My daughter Alice was watched while she packed her pergonal belongings. We at last got ourselves and our personal luggage on board the Wainui, and made a start for Auckland. Subsequent events in Tonga will develop themselves."
