He had, therefore, no hesitation in placing her upon probation for four months.

Alleged Indecent Assault. — John Strathem appeared on remand on the charge of having on the 25th of July at , ■''. Mounb Eden indecently assaulted Ellen Hunter.—lnspector Broham said that since hie return to Auckland he had investigated ■ ', this matter, and without wishing to express any opinion on the merits of the case, still ■ he must say that he considered that it) ,■ should be gone oa with.—Dr. Giles said that he had suggested the adjournment because he thought in the face of the letter produced previously it was only right that further enquiry should be made. Of course, if there was any reason to think that the withdrawal wa» not bona tide, it was right that the case should be investigated.—lnspector Broham - said he would express no opinion about the merits of the case, but he thought it should ■ '. be investigated.—Dr..
