HELENSVILLE DISTRICT.

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH WORK

Some little time ago the Rev. Mr Worboys •was appointed to visit the Helensville and Xaukapakapa district, to bold services and inquire into the state of the Presbyterian Church there. At the meeting of the Presbytery this morning, the Rev. Mr Worboys made a verbal report on hie visit. He found the Helensville church in a very satisfactory condition, the Masons having kept it in a very good condition. The Kaukapakapa church was one of the prettiest oountry churchea he hadfceen. He bad very successful services in Heleneville, and from what he saw of the district, and from the tone of friends there, be believed there was a fine opportunity for the introduction of active church work. He suggested that something should be done in the way of supplying the district with regular cervices. : ■■ The Rev. Mr Nome agreed with Mr "Worboys in this view, and thought the thanks of the Presbytery were due to him for his careful report. " . . Mr Worboys said the general opinion m the distriiS was that a clergyman should be cent up for three or six months to organise the church there. , The Rev. Mr Steele thought that an energetic student might be sent up, or some of the ministers might go up monthly for a time. , • The Rev. Mr Sommerville said he was exceedingly pleased with the report of Mr Worboys. They would, however, only hare to re-enter on the district, for the Presbyterian Church was the first to work the district. Helensville and Kaukapakapa Were only two branches of the charge, for there were also in the diatricta, Wainm and the Wade, where there were a large number of Presbyterians. He agreed with Mr Worboys that a clergyman should be cent up regularly. He thought steps should be immediately taken to lot the people see that the Presbytery took a real interest m them. He agreed with Mr Steele that a young man like Mr Morrison might be sent up for a month, and a for another month. It was mosb desirable that the church ehould be thoroughly established there. ' , . ■ Most of the ministers present agreed to go to the district in turn. Eventually it was resolved, "That the thanks of the Presbytery be given to Mr Worboys, and that the Revs. R. Sommerville and Worboys be appointed a committee Xo arrange for servicee,"
