MUSCULAR CHRISTIANITY AT THE OLD MEN'S REFUGE.
(To the Editor.)
Sib, —I was present; at the Police Courb on Saturday last and heard the caeo you refor to in your icsue of thab day as "Muscle v. Afje," and am decidedly ot opinion the case should bo .seen into more fully. I never in my lite saw such a loarful eye from one blow. It was perfectly closed and swollen and blue-black. Tho man who struck that blow may well be a champion athlete. My own opinion is that no provocation is autiicienb to warrant a young and powerful man in striking a nian old enough to be his father. It this is the Christian forbearance the new manager intends to exercise in the new ilefujco, 1 am extremely sorry for the poor old creatures under his charge ! Thw is surely a " cause thab lacks assistance." The old niuu Vanstono's case should Co ventilated, lesb it occur again. Dr. Giles little thought when ho asked the question: "Could you not have shaken him oil' without striking such a blow ?" thab ho waa addressing perhaps the champion wrestler and weightlifter in the province, one who could with one hand have doubled the old man up like A ball of hoinp. lam not going co sigu my name, <»3 1 am an old uia'fc- myself and should be extremely sorry to have iMr Moss interview my eye ! —I am, etc., " Omega."
