THE LIGHT BRIGADE.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—l was glad to see in your issue of las* evening a letter from "Quis Separabif,' setting" forth the sad circumstances attending the declining years of some of the members of bhab gallant band who,.took part in bhab "ever memorable charge," and think, too, that it is time thab some steps were taken to express sympathy in some form thab would ensure substantial benefib to those few gallant survivors. Steps towards this end have already been taken with varied success in some of our Southern cities, and as Auckland has ever been in the van in such matter?, I would suggest bhab His Worship the Mayor, who is personally ever ready to assist, be waited upon by some influential committee, and requested to convene a publicmeebing for the purpose of taking such steps as will convince the mother country bhab we in the Antipodes, by our action, have not forgotten the charge thab for ever made Britain's sons famous in the annals of chivalry. Who's forgotten.knights of Alma? Who the field of Inkerinan? Who the carnage at Tchernaya ? Who tho storming of Redan?, , Who Sebastopol's submission? Shall such memories ever fade? ..';-_, r .__„i Who the far-famed Balaclava ?.. W-" 0 tao " al " ~.. lant Light Brigade?' —lam, etc., Pristin_ Virtdtis Memores, Auckland, 9th July, 1890.
