THE REASON FOR IT.

Wherever men and women congregate it is frequently a subject for comment and discussion, " Why do people show so little fcympathy for their fellowa undergoing a slow martyrdom of agony from neuralgia, rheumatism, toothache, or, perhaps, only a cold iv the head ?" There can bo no mistake about the amount of suffering which proclaims the presence of, say, a decaying tooch, or the throbbing, burning goading misery of neuralgia; yet bhey elicit but scant sympathy for the sufferer ; while the abject wretchedness which characterises the possessor of a bad cold in the head is frequently tho cause of vory much mor,p fun at the expense of the victim than of sympathy for his sufferings. Our grandfathers and grandmothers tell ua that things were very different in the days when George the Third was King, and the only reasonable way in which to account for it ia that in those days there was no known speedy and certain cure for such troublesome complaints. But with the advent of ■•Sβ. Jacobs Oil, which cures any and all of them promptly and permanently, there was no longer any necessity for the excess of sympathy, which has, therefore, been directed into a different channel, and is now kept principally for men who get married or have money loft them in large quantities.
