MARINE OFFICERS' DEMANDS.
THREATENED STRIKE,
A Press Association telegram from Weilingbon says : —The matter ia dispute between the steamship owners and the Marine Officers' Association is assuming a serious aspect. By mutual agreement communication between the parties is kopb secret, bub ib is ■understood bhat during bhe conference tho Association somewhat amended bheir former demands, though in what direction has nob been disclosed. The letber forwarded by the Hon. George McLean, representing the steam-owners, to the Association is said to have been of an unfavourable nature, and ibs conbenbs were fully discussed ab a meeting of the Council of the latter body. The Association last evening addressed a lebter to Mr McLean in which they sbabe that unless their amended demands are Complied with before noon on Monday, the 14thinst., all members of bhe Association Bailing in New Zealand waters will be called but. The Association has cabled to the Officers' Association of Victoria *ancT New South Wales acquainting them of bheir action.
