Drunkenness.—Two first offenders were fined ss, or, in default, 24 hours' hard labour.
Alleged Breaking of Window.— Michael Tobin, a lad, was charged with having, on the 16th of April, broken a window in the dwelling-house of Ann Moller, situated in Norfolk-street, / Ponsonby. Sergeant - Major Pratt asked for a remand until next Monday, when another charge might be preferred.— Mr E. Cooper appeared for the accused and contended that the police had no' right to get a prisoner remanded on one charge and then bring another one the next Court day. It there was another charge pending, lie asked to know what it was he should have to'answer. —Sergeant-Major Pratt said it would be a charge of breaking, with intent to commit a felony.—The Bench granted the bail being allowed the accused in'£lo. . ■
Alleged Obscene Language.—Agnes Austin was. charged with having used obscene language on the 7th of April.—Mr J. O'Meagher pleaded not guilty on behalf of the accused. — Aftei hearing the evidence the Bench dismissed the case.
