NAPIER STREET SCHOOL SWIMMING MATCHES.
The usual annual swimming sporbs in connexion with the Napier-street school were held yesterday in the Albert-street Babhs. Valuable prizes were competed for, contributions to the funds having been received from Mr Gorrie, Mr and Mrs Calder (of bhe baths), all the beachers in bhe school, and several of the friends' of the boys. In the morning 83 girls, under bhe supervision of Misses Blades and Edwards, wenb to the baths, and besides bathing competed in two races, with the following results:— _. ~ Length oi? Baths.—l, Kate Reynolds (scratch) ; 2, Amy Cossar (4sec). Width of Bath.—l, Amelia Lawson (scratch); 2, Bethia Smith (2sec). In the afternoon 110 boys, under Mr Thwaites and Mr Heenan, compebed in bhe following events : — Champion Race.—l, W. Cossar ;2, M. Cossar ; 3, E. Harb. Under 12 Years.—l, R. Murray (2sec) ; 2, M. Cossar (scratch). Long Dive.—l, W. Cato. Swimming in Clothes. —1, W. Cossar (scratch) ; 2, A. Carter (6sec) Neat Header. —W. Cato, G. Eleven (tie). Swimming on Back.—l, G. Scott (6sec): 2, W. Cossar (scratch). Shallow Dive.—l, G. Scott; 2, M. Cossar.
Dock Hunt.—A Dunningham, W. Cato (tie). Diving for Eggs.—l, W. Cossar. Breast Stroke.—l, W. Cossar (scratch); 2, G. Scobb (3sec.) Greasy Boom.—l, W. Cossar. Two Lengths (open).—l, W. Cossar (scratch); 2, M. Cossar (7sec); 3, W. Wabson (7sec).
