ASSESSMENT COURT.

KARANGAHAPE WARD,

The Assessment Court, held for the purpose of hearing objections to valuations in the city of Auckland and suburbs, was opened at the Municipal Buildings this morning. Objections to valuations in Auckland North having been deferred from yesterday (Wednesday) till Friday, March 14th, the first taken were those in the Karangahape Ward. Mr R. C. Barstow, Judge of the Assessment Court, presided, and Mr W. Gulliver, city valuer, appeared on behalf of the City Council. The botal number of objections received in the Karangahape Ward was 56, but many of these were informal, and consequently could not be dealt with. Objections were heard and dealt with as follows :—

John Batger, property in Karangahape Road, valued at £416, sustained.

W. F. Bell, Edwin-street, valued at £20, reduced to >-15.

Sarah Cochrane, Edwin-street, £30, re duced to £14.

Charlton Dawson, Symonds-streeb, £25, reduced to £15.

Edward Jones, Cross-sbreeb, £50, sus tamed.

Win, A. Nesbitb, Cobden-streefc, £15, sustained.

Elizabeth Pritchard, Newton Road, £20, reduced to £16.

E. VV. Rollerson, Symonds-street, £46, sustained.

James Scott, Karangahape Road, £80, sustained.

James Scott, Cross-street, £26, sustained. Robert Froude, Newton Road, £32, by consent reduced to £26.

George Hoidship, Basque Road, £6, byconsent reduced to £3.

The Court adjourned at noon to-day until 10 a.m. to-morrow, when objections to valuations in fche East Ward will be

heard,
