SCHOOL ACCOMMODATION.
NEW SCHOOL AT MOUNT EDEN REFUSED. A proposal was made some few weeks ago at the Board of Education meeting to erect a new school, if necessary, at Eden Terrace to supply accomodation for those child; _h who could not be admitted to other schools. Messrs Udy and Carr were appointed to inquire into the circumstances, and yesterday at the Board meeting Mr Udy reported that there is at present no necessity for such a echool. There are over 12,000 feet of space available in the various city and suburban schools within a radius of 3 miles, anda new school would only needlessly drain theae other schools. If children in the country are asked to walk 3 or 4 miles to school, surely, Mr Udy thinks, children in town may walk a mile or two. The Board took Mr Udy's view of the matter, and the report against building a new school was adopted. - _ >^ Thames, this day.
