MASONIC.
LODGE PONSONBY.
Nearly one hundred brethren of the craft Assembled last evening in the lodge-room, Pomrjallier Terrace, for the pnrposeof irte nessing tho installation of officers of Lodge Ponsonby, No. 708, S.C. \ The masters and officers of Lodges St. Andrew, Albion, and Eden, attended as well as the W.M.s of various other lodges. The D.P.G.M. of 8.C., Bro. M. Niccol, performed tbe duties of Investing Master, P.M.'s Bros. Anderson and McCullough acting as Marshals. The officers installed were as follows: — R.W.M., W.: Forrest (reflected); D.M., J. R. Duncan; S.M., W. Edgar; 5.W.,, W. Carder; J.W., M. J. Binnett; Chaplain, Rev. W. Calder; Treasurer, X. H. Jones; Secretary, Geo. Fowlds; S.D., T. Magee ; J.D., J. Smart; 1.G., W. Simmonde ; DofC,A. J. Baddiley; Bible Bearer, H. Grey; S.S., J. deal; J.S., T. MacWhirter ; Tyler, J. R. Sheppard. The Installing Master addressed the W.M. and Wardens, and Bro. Anderson delivered an address to the brethren. In replying the W.M. thanked Bro. Niccol for his services and testified to tht harmonious working of the Lodge during his past term of office. P.M. Bro. Anderson then addressed a few complimentary remarks to the retiring Secretary, Bro. Davenport, and on behalf of Lodge Ponsonby presented him with a handsome, silvermounted Malacca cane, as a slight token of appreciation of his past services. On a circlet of silver round the cane were engraved the names of the recipient and the Lodge. Bro. Davenport, in replying, expressed his willingness at all times to render what assistance he could to tbe Lodge. After some ordinary business had been transacted, the Lodge closed, and the brethren present were invited to partake of refreshment provided in the ante-room. When supper was concluded, the brethren returned to the lodge-room, and spent the remainder of the evening in a social manner. The following toasts were drunk :— " Queen and Craft," proposed by the W.M. ; "The Three Provincial Grand Masters," proposed by Bro. Anderson, and responded to by Bro. Niccol; "The R.W.M.," proposed by Bro. F. Lawry and responded to by Bro. Forrest; '*The Installing Master," proposed by Bro. Carder ; " The Visitors," proposed by Bro. Davenport, and the "Tyler's Toast."
