E.L. SMITH'S CREDITORS.
The following discussion took place at the meeting of E. L. Smith's creditors yesterday afternoon, subsequent to our going to press. The Assignee asked whether he should press the claim against Mr Seccombe for a refund of the amount paid to him by the debtor. After some discussion ib was resolved, on the motion of Mr C. Buddie, that considering Mr Cave's opinion the Assignee dp take steps to tost the validity of payments to Mr Seccombe, and thab the creditors indemnify the Assignee against costs of the. same pro rata. Mr Lawson nexb asked the meoting to decide what should be done •with regard to Hancock and Co.'s claim. The matter was discussed shortly, after which ib was resolved, on the motion of Mr King, that Messrs Hancock and Co. be paid £400 on account of goods sold. The next question considered was Mr Abbott's claim for £1,000. The Assignee explained that since lasb meeting Mr Abbott had offered to reduce his claim to £557 16s sd. Considerable discussion ensued, after which Mr Cave said he would recommend the creditors to allow Mr Abbott to prove for £500. He was entitled to something, having to take over the hotel. Mr Mowbray moved and Mr Jagger seconded thab this offer be accepted. Mr Mahony moved as an amendmenb that the question be deferred until aftor tlie decision in the action with Mr Seccombe. Upon the question being pub to the meeting tbe motion was adopted.
