DEATH OF SERGEANT MURPHY.

Thames, this day. Sergeant Murphy, who had been ailing for some time back, died here last night. He was one of the oldest members of the New Zealand police force, having been in the service 26 years, during which period he held the position of sergeant for 21 years. He has been stationed at the Thames 35 year.-. The funeral takes place to-morrow afternoon.
