MAJOR-GENERAL EDWARDS IN VICTORIA.

Melbourne, August 8,

Major-General Edwards to-day, accompanied by the Commandant and staff, inspected the forts inside the Heads. At the Swan Island fort the garrison artillery manned the guns and had shot practice at a moving target, but the practice did not appear to be satisfactory, the projectiles striking the water 150 yards short and a couple of hundred yards beyond the object.
