ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
A meeting of Association footballers Waa held lasfc evening in the Imperial Hotel. Thero was a fair attendance of those interested in the game. Mr C. C. Dacre was voted to the chair.
Mr Dacre explained the object for which the meeting was called, viz., to re-establish as many as possible of the clubs playiug Association rules formerly existing in Auckland. Though the season would now be a short one, he believed thab a revival of the former interest in the game was still possible if players would only seb bhemselves properly bo work. He read correspondence from several Southern clubs. The Wellington Club suggested the formation of a New Zealand Association for the furtherance of the game.
Mr Newcombe eaid that he did not quite understand why the Association of last year had nob been carried on bhis year. . He thought that they should still go on, on the old footing.
Mr Laing agreed wifch the last speaker fchafc the old Association should be continued, and that any arrears should be paid up. Mr Dacre also agreed with these remarks. He thoughb, though they might not be able to start all their old clubs, tbey could still have enough teams to carry on tho game till next season.
Messrs Upfill and Sibbin said they could each guarantee a team. Mr Sibbin thoughb it would hardly be worth while to start the Association, but if several clubs formed to play among themselves for this season, the game could be carried on till next season.
It was at length decided to play for the rest of the season.
Mr Sibbin proposed that a new association be formed with the rules and regulations of the old.
This was agreed fco, and ifc was also agreed that; the liabilities of tho old Association be taken over by the new. The election of officers was then proceeded with. The Rev. J. S. Hill was elected President, and Mr C. C. Dacre Vice-President. Mr Newcombe was appointed Secretary and Treasurer. Mr Laing thought it was better nofc to adhere slavishly to the old rules, and to afc once form a committee fco stir players up and keep things going. A committee was formed consisting of the following gentlemen .—Messrs Upfill, West, Goudie, Sibbin and Laing. On the motion of Mr Dacre, it waa decided to hold a practice match next Saturday at the North Shore, time and place fco be advertised in Friday night's Stab,
