Thames, this .lay. A TRIAL spin of Mr Robert Corner's twentystamper battery, fche erection of which has just been completed on his section of the Kuranui Hill ground, took place afc 11.30 o'clock yesterday in the presence of a number of gentlemen interested in mining. The motive power is supplied by water through a two-inch nozzle, the plant being driven by one of Price Bros.' Pelton wheels. The stampers are driven direct from the main shafb of fche wheel, to which is attached a foot-belt, which is connected with a cam-shafb wheel seven feet in diameter. The whole plant worked most smoothly and satisfactorily, and Mr Comer now possesses one of the most compact batteries on the field. The erection of the five berdans in connection with the plant is now being proceeded with, and will be completed about the end of the present week.

Saxon.—The additional ten head of stampers ab this Company's battery have been started.

Lone Hand. —A promising leader two inches thick has been cut in the crosscut in the Lone Hand section of the mine. Very little quartz has yeb been taken out, bub gold is freely seen.
