MEETING AT WELLINGTON.
(BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
The following are the term 3of the firsb resolution which was carried unanimously at last night's public meeting amidst enthusiastic cheers. Moved by Mr G. Fisher, M.H.R., and seconded by Mr Evinson, " That this public meeting desires to affirm the propriety and importance of colonists continuing to take an intelligent interest in and to give expression to their opinions upon questions affecting the welfare, happiness, and prosperity of the people of the British Empire, which they claim as a privilege and an honour to belong to. Holding such views, this meeting is of opinion that they should avail, themselves of the arrival of Mr John Dillon and his colleagues in New Zealand to invite him to address the public of Wellington on the constitutional changes sought by a majority of fche Irish representatives and supported by the political party led by fche Right Hon. W. E. Glad- , stone,"
