LICENSES FOR COLONIAL BEER AND WINE.

At the City North Licensing Court this afternoon the chairman of Committee (Mr Goldie) stated that one of the members of committee, Mr Bell, desired to state that, in his opinion, the time had arrived when it is desirable that houses should be licensed for the sale of colonial wine and beer only, aud suggested to licensees and brewers that they should move in this direction. Tho other members of the Committee did not hold the same views. Mr Cotter said that this was v matter lor the inhabitants to ' decide. Last year the)' had voted against granting licenses for New Zealand wines. Mr Goldie said that Mr Bell referred to colonial wines and beer. The matter was then permitted to drop.
