BOARD OF EDUCATION.
The ordinary meeting of the Board of Education was held this afternoon. There were present: Messrs Upton (Chairman), Lennox, Luke, and Udy. Chairman's Report.—The report of the Chairman was read, and showed the work done during the week, and was of a general nature. Messes Draifin, Reid, Flavell, Hill, and Misses Braithwaite, Edmiston, A. Henry and Mulvany have been requested to assist in supervision of examination. Mr F. S. M Hankin has been referred to the District School Committee as the authority to regulate all school matters within the school district. Miss M. R. S. McQundo has been informed that ns a third year pupil teacher she is not required to attend pupil teachers'examination. Miss J. Br&ithwaite was granted a week's leave of absence on account of illness.
Applications.—Applications for claims, repairs, painting, and other works were received from the following country schools and dealt with; Fern Flat, Hob..onville, Kaitaia, Kauaoranga, Kaukapakapa. Lucas Creek, Mangapai, Manga re, Morrinsville, Okaihau, Opua, Pakiri, Parnell, Pukeatua, Ruapuke, Takahue, Te Mata, Wairoa South and Waiuku.
Applications for Employment and Removal. —Mr Campbell applied for employment. Mr Upton said the applicanb was a very good man, he having passed E. His testimonials were read. It was decided'to adjourn it for a time. Mr J. Selby, at Te Arai, asked to be removed to some other school. Resolved to put his name on the exchange list.
