FRENCH NAVY,

THE LEVANT SQUADRON.

Paris, June 18,

Admiral Krantz, Minister of Marine, is reluctant to give way to the pressure being brought to bear to induce the Government to increase the navy to a stiength equal to the united fleets of Italy and Germany immediately. The outlay required to give effect to such a scheme is estimated at fifty million francs. The French Government have decided to re-form the Levant squadron, which was recently withdrawn.
