The inquiry held yesterday into tho fire which destroyed the Waipawa Hotel isremi.rii.uble for the rider added by the jury to the verdict, as follows :—" There is no evidence before the jury how the fire originated. The jury are of opinion that tho proper time to raise the question of value was when the proposal for insurance was made, but that when the Company accepts a proposal and takes premium it should in a 1 fairness when ft tire occurs pay up, and nob raise a question of over insurance." The jury was composed of some leading .'business men. They resented being forced to tit all .day, and. not to find, out how tho lire originated, but discover the value of the premises burnt. The Company's interested was the North British and Mercantile.
