THE LATE DR. TENNENT.

MILITARY FUNERAL,

This afternoon the funeral of the late Dr. C. E. Tennent took place ut Purewa Cemetery, near St. John's College, and was largely attended by friends of the deceased.' The remains were accorded a military funeral, Dr. Tennent having been late honorary surgeon to the "A " Battery, Ist Regiment New Zealand Artillery Volunteer?. Ab 2 p.m. the firing party, consisting of detachments of'the "A" and "0' Batteries, under Captain Geddes, with Hunter's Garrison Band, paraded at the JJrill-shed with a number of other volunteers and marched to the late residence of Dr. Tennent, from whence the coffin was conveyed on a gun-carriage out to the cemetery. On reaching Newmarket brakes were in waiting for the firing party and band for the remainder of the journey. A large number of mourners in carriages and on horseback also took part in the funeral procession.
