As tho volunteers were returning from the Easter encampment this morning the train was stopped at Drury for 20 minutes in order to hold a court martial. It appears that two members of the Wairoa Rifles were arrested by a picket for firing blank cartridge at Hamilton. The case was gone into this morning, and the result was that the two offenders were dismissed from the service.
Mr William Courteney, of Ponsonby, has forwarded to the City Council the following articles to be placed in the Art Gallery for six months :—A glass globe containing a piebald black bird and tho head of another, both of which birds were caught by Mr W. Mason, of Ponsonby ; also a nm horse from the Red Sea,' a rough diamond in diamondiferous soil from Africa, a moonstone from Burmah, o,nd « ruby from the Bu .ijiege ruby mhica. ''"' '■ '■
