CinixoTT. —Charles William Henry Cbileott made a sworn statement before fcho Olliciul Assignee to-day. lie said that prior to starting business at the Thames, a little over two years ago, ho was in business in Auckland in the same line (jeweller). Ho started business on his own account with £3 on February 3rd, ISS7, and borrowed £100 to purchaso Georgo Clark's Rtoek. 110 paid his way until a few weeks a^o. Since January business was bad, and creditors declining to civc him titno ho had to file. Ho also stated : " My stock might have appeared to bo larger four months since than it is now ; that is accounted for by my having various pooda on hand on commission. I* can prove beyond doubt that tho piano I sent away to Dunedin about a month ago belongs to my wife. My debts amount to £201 4s Gd nnd the assets aro :si or k-in trade £129 H>s 5d ; book debts £14 16s 6d ; shop iixtuies £10 ; ca°h in Bank .i'.lo 10s ; furniture and tools £25 ; allotment at Otago £25 ; total £'205 6s Qd. lam satisfied .I could pay off everybody within twclvo months, nnd now ask tho creditors to allow mo to make an effort."

ut the office of the Ollicial Assignee, There were present; Messrs A. IF. Nathan, Bruce (Sargood and Co.), fttiehburj (Parker, Green and Co.), lvey (Bank of New Zealand), and Calvort (Owen and (iraham), The Official Assignee read n letter dated February IBeb, 1389, from Mr Houston, auctioneer, Mangonul, stating1 that 200 head of cafctlo and 20 horses wero running on the land at Ohara, which could be identified by Wright, tho constable, as belonging to this estate. Ho also read letters from Messrs Cave and lvey, dated respectively February 26 and 27 in connection with the earae' matter, After .some discussion, and it being shown that there were funds in hand amounting to .£521 14s, it was resolved, on the motion pf MiNathan, seconded by Air Calvort, ' That all cattle and horses that can be identified by Wright, or others, ns belonging to the bankrupt (it the time of filing should bo mustered and gold as suggested in Mr Houston's letter of February 18th, and that Mr Houston be wired instructions immediately."
